Israel

I am not political. I don't want to be political.

I live in Israel and my children were born here.

We are not perfect, but we are a multi-racial, democratic country, with residents from all over the world, and constitutional freedom of religion.

My daughter’s public kindergarten in Central Israel has children who are white, black and Asian and every shade in between. Not everybody is Jewish, though I cannot confirm their specific religions, because it has never come up in conversation.

One family who are from West Africa alluded to Bob Marley once - so I guess we follow the same prophets :-)

All children attend kindergarten basically for free (600 shekels a year) and everyone is welcome. That is a fact.

It is also a fact that you will see every single shade of skin on the beaches in our 8-month a year beach season, equally showing their beer bumps and six-packs alike.

It is easy to simplify: the villain and the victim.

I live here.

We are all the victim because we all have been the villain.

Both sides have made so many mistakes.

But there is a critical mass on both sides that want to be brothers and sisters again, and finally heal the wound of Hagar and Sarah.

To our leaders - this is what we want. This is what we all need, including you. Please start leading us there.

To aspiring leaders - take us there.

May the next great leader emerge. And soon.

Nelson Mandela led the way with so many at his side...

He maintained true humility and related to every human being with true respect.

“For every human being to be treated like one”.
